Printing Services Technician 2 (formerly Bindery Tech)

Purpose
In accordance with the Mission and Guiding Behaviors, the Printing Services Technician 2 processes incoming and outgoing USPS mail, operates various bindery equipment such as the cutter, booklet maker/stitcher, folder, slitting/scoring/perforating machine, and various hand bindery machines. The Technician 2 also uses mailing software to process address databases for mailing; operates mail inserters and postal meter.
Functions
- Promotes a caring and healing environment that keeps the patient and family at the center of care throughout their patient care experience.
- Promotes a Culture of Safety by adhering to policy, procedures and plans that are in place to prevent workplace injury, violence, or adverse outcome to associates and patients.
- Executes a continuous performance improvement approach to continually challenge the region to reduce cost while maintaining quality while utilizing key performance indicators and other data to measure and monitor performance.
- Customer Support: Verifies components of project for assembly and cross-checks against job ticket for accuracy.
- Operation Support: Operates various bindery equipment such as cutters, folder, booklet maker, small bindery machines, etc. Processes incoming and outgoing USPS mail using inserters, meters, and address verification software. Review projects to determine proper postage, indicia, and mailing technique.
- Workflow Support: Organizes and schedules projects by deadline, process, and bindery equipment. Ensures project meets quality and brand standards before handing off for shipment.
- Backup Support: Provide backup in shipping/inventory as required.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent GED; vocational/technical print production program completion.
- Minimum of three years’ experience mailing, bindery, and shipping processes in a print production environment.
- High level knowledge of mailing, bindery, and shipping equipment.
- Demonstrate competent computer skills.
- Proficient in spelling and grammar.
- Demonstrate an outgoing and engaging attitude with customers.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills.
- Complete additional education, knowledge, and skills, as required.
Additional Qualifications
- Overall working knowledge of print production processes including offset, digital, and ink jet.
- Working knowledge of database software for address verification.
- Prefer basic experience working with storefront system.
- Prefer basic competence in current Microsoft office software applications.
Physical and Mental Requirements & Working Conditions: Position requires the ability to push or lift equal to or greater than 30 lbs. Working above shoulder level, kneeling, bending, walking, turning/pivoting, and keyboarding. Must be able to maintain professionalism when approached by unsatisfied customers.
